Unique Five Layer Construction

Kangaberry cases are designed for durability, health and style. This is accomplished with our unique five layer construction.

About The Layers

Signature Leather – Thin, Durable, Strong.

Not only is our cow leather very thin (thickness is 0.031″) but extremely strong, durable, able to withstand heavy use compared to goat or lamb skin. It’s also soft and kinda sexy! We wanted a product that would last years, not months.

Our leather is also harvested as by-products of meat production. As a result the leather texture can have more natural defects, including scars, which lend character to the leather.

This leather was determined after months of testing different materials and working with a tannery right here in Canada (est. 1969) to find the perfect leather for Kangaberry.

Clean & Sustainable Wool

100% Italian Wool Felt Lining

100% Designer Wool Felt From Italy
100% Designer Wool Felt From Italy

All of our fabric is 100% virgin Italian wool fibers and is manufactured using traditional wet processing techniques using the finest carbonized wool’s and eco-friendly dyes.

Wool actually grows on sheep as hair and comes back very quickly. Also, sheep aren’t intensely reared since the wool comes off quite easily.  What’s more, 100% designer wool has additional beneficial properties which include:

To expand upon the benefits of wool fibers, you can read in detail below why we chose to incorporate wool into the inner lining of each Kangaberry:

  • Anti-Allergenic – Naturally, anti-allergenic, wool doesn’t collect static which attracts dusty  & dirt. So those with allergies to house mites will never have to worry about their cell phone case  collecting dirt and thus bacteria.
  • Breathable – Wool is a breathable fiber that self-regulates to the surrounding environment/ ones individual body temperature.  How is this important? Well, if you have kept your phone on for hours it can sometimes get overheated.Wools natural fibers will actually draw in more air in this scenario, removing excess heat & moisture from the body and phone; keeping your cellular device at the perfect temperature at all times. On the contrary, in the winter,  the case will act more as an insulator and keep you warm if in your pocket -protecting the battery from the cold winter weather.
  • Odor Repelling Properties – We put our phones in many places and sometimes they get dirty or placed in smelly places. Fortunately, with wool’s unique fibrous structure, it won’t allow for the build up of body odors so your Kangaberry will have a lifetime of several years.
  • Water – Resistant – Wool repels moisture vapor though its fibers; making it resistant mould and mildew.
  • Sustainable – Sheap are not intensely reared. In fact, wool actually grows as hair on goats, sheep and rabbits. At the end of their life the wool is actually biodegraded into the soil, releasing important nutrients.
  • Easy to Clean – Inner wool lining won’t build up dirt or bacteria since natural wool fibers don’t collect static which attracts dust and dirt.
  • Flame Retardant – Wool is the only fiber that naturally resists flaming. Unlike many artificial fibers which melt and stick to the skin when on fire, wool usually smolders or chars instead of bursting into flame. Although wool will burn under intense fire, it normally self-extinguishes when the flame source is removed. For safety reasons, many airlines use wool or wool blends for the upholstery fabric on their seats. Wool is favored by the U.S. military.

Furthermore, at the end of the phone’s life cycle, the wool can actually be biodegraded into the soil, releasing important nutrients.

Inner Layer -Microwave Radiation Shielding Device

Between the felt and leather lies a very thin layer of our radiofrequency and microwave shielding  material, also known as the Kangashield. It is less than 1mm in thickness and provides amazing shielding performance: >60 dB from 10 MHz to 3+ GHz (note: cell phones operate at a frequency of 2.4 MHz).

What’s more, this fabric is flame retardant (UL 94V-0 level flame retardant (RoHS Compliant) and strong, consisting of a rugged rip-stop polyester substrate (for superior strength and handling).

It is important to note that Kangaberry cases significantly reduce the absorption of radiofrequency waves coming near the body, but do not shield at 100%. This allows for a synergistic balance between cell phone reception and effortless protection from EMF.
